The Wilton-Wing Lady Miners swept the Underwood Comets at home on Nov 1, after the game was rescheduled.
Comets won serve to begin set one but would have to give up possession after a hit lands in the net. Miners and Comets would tie at 3-3 and 4-4. Taya Hornberger put up a big block for the Comets to break away from the Miners. Courtney Seelye would slideout the Miners. Jordyn Thorson landed a tip right over the Comet block. Hailey Quam also dished out big a kill at 14-10 helping the Miners keep possession. Comets called for a timeout at 18-13, Miners lead. Both sides struggled with serving errors but Miners were able to keep possession with winning plays up front at the night, ending set one 25-14,
Set two opened up a bit messy as the net claimed multiple victims. Back and forth one possession scores went on until the Comets hit a groove going up 10-4. Serving errors continued into the second set from both sides. Quam and Thorson landed kills, sparking the Miners up to battle back. Comets called for a timeout at 12-13, only to lose their lead. Quam drills a hit in deep center, splitting the back two defenders. Kalyssa Schock would go on a 12 point serving streak gaining one ace in the process. Miners would again dominate the Comets taking the second set 25-14.
Miners started out fast in the third set. Thorson secured an ace at 7-2 pushing the Miner lead. A switch up of rolling hits landing just behind the blockers and deep hits in the corners worked well for the Miner front line. Comets were unable to match the Miners with their hits getting tangled in the net. A timeout by Comets at 17-7 works well for them as they start to pick up momentum. Kiara Johnson would slideout the Miners with a deep open back corner push at 18-12. Comets would not be able to dig themselves out of the whole and lose the third set 25-18.
