Miners continue dominant stretch
The Wilton-Wing Miners put together a strong weekend on the hardwood, earning back to back wins on Dec. 19 and 20 to improve their overall record to 4 and 1.
Wilton-Wing opened the stretch with a home victory over New Rockford-Cheyenne before following it up with a hard fought neutral site win against Ellendale Cardinals at the Jamestown Civic Center.
Friday night’s matchup with New Rockford-Cheyenne tested the Miners early, as both teams exchanged baskets and settled into a physical tempo.
Wilton-Wing responded with disciplined defense and strong rebounding, gradually building momentum as the game progressed.
After a competitive first half, the Miners began to find more consistency on offense, creating quality looks through ball movement and patient half court sets.
Wilton-Wing pulled away in the second half by converting stops into transition scoring and limiting New Rockford-Cheyenne’s second chance opportunities.
