The Wilton-Wing Miners boy’s basketball team opened the season Saturday night at home with a tilt against the Clippers of Strasburg-Zeeland.

Unfortunately for the Miners the Clippers came out firing on all cylinders, running out to a quick 22 to 12 first quarter lead.

"We had some issues with their athleticism and quickness" Miners coach Brad Brekke stated.

The Miners fought back gamely in the second quarter, paced by 8 points from forward Ty Bergquist, to go into the locker room down by eight.

Wilton-Wing came out in the second half determined to cut into the deficit, and paced by forward Devin Weltz, they were able to whittle another point off of it, trailing 50 to 43, heading into the fourth quarter.
