A tie game turned into a loss for the Washburn girls Saturday, as the Beulah Miners slipped through their fingers.
The Lady Cardinals donned home jerseys on Saturday when they did battle against the Lady Miners. Each team would sink a few two pointers in the first quarter, but neither would manage to pull away, as the quarter ended with a 10-10 tie.
In the second quarter, Beulah would begin to pull away, landing a half dozen free throws to create a gap between the teams. A three-pointer from Erin Walcker would further push the Miners ahead. The Cardinals would get a single two-pointer, courtesy of Brook Tibke, along with two free throws, but would go into half time down 21-14.
Washburn would come out of the locker room with some new energy, taking a few two pointers and a single three in an effort to catch up the Beulah. The Miners would rack up another 13 points and sit nine points ahead, 34-25, at the end of the third.
