Miners recover to take down Skyhawks

By Adam Thomas, BHG News Service

The fans from Wilton-Wing got their first home look at their boys basketball team on Saturday when the Shiloh Skyhawks came into town. At least initially, that first look didn’t look all that good. Allowing the Skyhawks to surge out to a 0-15 start, the Miners needed a little boost from the Sultan of the Swish, Dillon Loper, to get them jump started. Chipping away at the deficit, Wilton-Wing turned the game around by the 4th quarter and came out with the 66-61 victory. The Miners didn’t have many answers for Shiloh’s early game assault. A full-court press forced a number of turnovers and the half-court pressure from the Skyhawks saw some bad shots taken by Wilton-Wing players. Dillon Loper gave Wilton-Wing their first points of the game with a three-pointer and followed that up with a shot on the inside. At the end of the first quarter, the score was a crowd-silencing 5-19.
