Miners Softball season ends at Region 4 Tournament
The Wilton-Wing Miners saw their 2026 softball season come to an end during the Class B Region 4 Tournament,
finishing the year with a 10-7 overall record after battling through two postseason games against tough regional competition.
Despite the early tournament exit, the Miners closed the spring with one of the stronger records in Region 4 and continued to show offensive production throughout the postseason.
Wilton-Wing opened tournament play Tuesday, May 19 against Harvey-Wells County and ran into one of the hottest offensive performances of the regional tournament.
Harvey-Wells County totaled 24 hits and powered its way to a 20-5 victory in five innings.
The Miners stayed within reach early and responded with a four-run third inning after trailing 11-1, but Harvey-Wells County continued to add runs late to pull away.
Wilton-Wing collected five hits in the contest and received contributions throughout the lineup.
Savannah Fischer drove in two runs while recording a hit, and Taylor Zimmerman added a hit and RBI.
Avery Mosset also drove in a run, while Tessa Miller and Ella Witt each collected hits.
Sidney Mock reached base with a walk as well for the Miners.
Ella Witt handled pitching duties for Wilton-Wing, working all five innings while recording six strikeouts against a Harvey-Wells County lineup that head coach Trevor Yetterboe described as one of the strongest offensive teams the Miners had faced this season.
