Miners split pair of road matches
The Wilton-Wing Miners volleyball team split a pair of road matches last week, earning a straight-set victory over Strasburg before narrowly falling to Kidder County in five sets.
Wilton-Wing opened the week Tuesday, Sept. 1, with a 3-0 victory at Strasburg. The sweep gave the Miners a successful start to a demanding stretch that featured consecutive matches away from home.
The Miners returned to action Thursday, Sept. 3, traveling to face Kidder County.
Wilton-Wing pushed the match to a deciding fifth set but ultimately came up short in a 3-2 loss.
The results left the Miners with a 1-1 record across the two contests. Although Wilton-Wing was unable to complete an undefeated week, playing a five-set match on the road provided the team with valuable early season experience.
Head coach Heidi Weisgarber said maintaining a steady level of play throughout an entire match remains an important area of emphasis for the Miners.
