Miners split road week

The Wilton-Wing Miners boys basketball team closed out a demanding week with a split on the road, falling to unbeaten Central McLean before rebounding with a strong defensive eff ort in a win at Washburn.
The Miners now sit at 12-2 overall, 5-1 in District 8, and 6-0 in Region 4 play as they prepare for a packed slate of games in early February.
Wilton-Wing opened the week Jan. 27, with a challenging road test against Central McLean, dropping a 65-56 decision to the Cougars.
Despite the loss, head coach Keith Wolff came away encouraged by his team’s performance against one of the top teams in the state.
“I was happy with our performance against Central McLean, defensively and off ensively,” Wolff said.
The Miners stayed within striking distance throughout the contest, matching Central McLean’s physicality and execution for much of the night.
Teigen Earsley led Wilton-Wing with 19 points, consistently finding ways to score and keep pressure on the Cougars.
