Miners suffer setback at hands of LHMB
Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock moved into the lead for good by halftime, and the Lions pulled away in the second half for an 80-64 victory over Wilton-Wing, Feb. 3, at the Ben Kalberer Gymnasium in Hazelton.
The Lions improved to 8-5 on the season, while Wilton-Wing, ranked fifth in the State Class B Poll coming into the game, lost for the second time in three games and fell to 13-3.
The teams went back and forth in the first half, with WW holding a 22-18 advantage after one quarter, and Teigen Earsley’s jumper early in the second quarter gave the Miners a 24-20 lead. However, the Miners would misfire on six straight shots, while LHMB ripped off 11 unanswered points to move into the lead (31-24) for good midway through the quarter.
