Post 12 going to state!

By Michael Johnson, Editor

No matter how great the team, there’s always that concern that a team may not play to their full potential. But all concerns were washed away as the Post 12 American Legion baseball team came away with huge wins over the top teams in  Section 7 last week. The championship team earned their third straight trip to state as they toppled No. 2 Hazen. With that battle behind them, the team of hard-hitters and tough-tossers is ready for more wins at the state level. They traveled to LaMoure Wednesday to check in for the state tournament. Head Coach Kip Erickson said the team played exceptionally well at the sectional tournament. In their first game against Highway 21 the team put Evan Eberle on the mound and kept Hwy 21 to six hits and no runs. Meanwhile, Washburn put up six runs in the first inning alone. It only took five innings to  see that Post 12 was easily the victor in a 13-0 win. In that game Jesse Henke showed his consistency by batting 2-for-2, Mike Hausauer was 1-for-1 with a home run, Brett Schreiner was 2-for-3 and Chance Kurle went 1-for-2.
