Post 12 losses could mean positives down the road

No one likes to lose. However, the Washburn Legion baseball team’s first Section 7 loss last week may force them to take a look at the bigger picture after flying undefeated to begin the season. A monstrous third inning propelled Beulah past Post 12, 7-6 in the first of a doubleheader in Washburn Wednesday. It was the second loss in as many days for the seemingly indestructible Washburn team that moves to 6-2 overall. "The boys got themselves together and said they didn’t like the way they played. When you have older kids that say, ‘coach we didn’t play well,’ that pretty much takes care of it," Washburn coach Kip Erickson explained. "They don’t want to lose but it’s going to happen every once in a while." Washburn got on the board with two sacrifice hits in the opening game Wednesday. Mitch Wachendorf tagged to score in the first and Charlie Retterath scored in the bottom of the third.
