Post 12 powers past Bismarck Barons in five innings

Washburn Post 12 used a seven run opening inning and a balanced off ensive attack to defeat the Bismarck Barons 15-5 in five innings July 13.
Washburn collected 13 hits in the victory and scored in four of its five
trips to the plate. Colten Becher and Tanner Fiedler led the way off ensively, combining for seven hits and six RBIs as Post 12 pulled away for the 10-run win.
Washburn wasted little time taking control, sending seven runs across the plate in the bottom of the fi rst inning.
The early outburst gave Post 12 a comfortable advantage before Bismarck had much of a chance to settle into the contest.
The Barons answered with three runs in the top of the second to cut the lead to 7-3, but Washburn quickly regained momentum.
Post 12 added three runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth, stretching the advantage to 13-3.
Bismarck scored twice in the top of the fi fth, but Washburn responded with two runs in the bottom half to bring the game to an early conclusion.
Becher was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with three RBIs. His four hits led all players and helped set the one for a Washburn lineup that received contributions throughout the order.
