Post 12 prepared to win Sect. 7 tourney

By Michael Johnson, Editor

The miles and miles are adding up for the Post 12 American Legion baseball team. The team has been racking up impressive bus time in their search for tough teams in the state and surrounding states this summer. Just last week, the team played six games in five days to add to their skill set. It’s all coming together right on time as they head on into the Section 7 tournament at home in Washburn. One major trip included a drive to Jamestown to play big name teams like Jamestown, Moorhead, Minn., Coon Rapids, Minn., and Beulah. Post 12 was in it to win it in each game, yet lost all four games. “We played real well, the kids hustled real well,” head coach Kip Erickson said. “I think we got good stuff out of it.” While it’s tough to take a long drive and lose, the boys found the tournament to be well worth the time. “They all made the statement, ‘this really helped us coach,’” Erickson said.
