Post 12 rallies past Senators with five-run fifth
The Washburn Post 12 Legion Baseball team used a big fifth inning to power past the visiting Bismarck Senators 18U squad, earning a 6-4 victory on Friday, June 13.
Washburn overcame an early 3-1 deficit with timely hitting, solid defense, and strong pitching to remain unbeaten in summer play.
After giving up three runs in the top of the first, Washburn answered with a run of its own in the bottom half but was kept off the board for the next three innings.
It wasn’t until the fifth that the Post 12 bats came alive, erupting for five runs to seize control of the game.
Alex Retterath played a key role in the rally, driving in two runs and reaching base twice with a 1-for-1 effort and a walk.
