The Southern McLean Roughriders visited the Richardton-Taylor-Hebron Raiders on Friday.
After a kickoff by senior Dylan Williams, the Raiders would receive the ball and make a 70 yard run for the touchdown with no point after conversion.
Off of the Raider kickoff, junior Garrett Pfleiger ran 14 yards, followed by a 3 yard run by senior Logan Schmitz. The Roughriders wouldn’t be able to make anything happen, and would have to punt.
The Raiders would begin their second possession with a 30 yard pass, followed by a 10 yard pass. The Raiders would then make small runs, eventually running 8 yards for the touchdown. The point after would be no good.
Receiving the kickoff would be senior Colton Eckel, who would advance the Roughriders 5 yards. Schmitz would make another attempt to run, but wouldn’t advance. The Roughriders would attempt to make a long pass, but would be intercepted, scoring the Raiders a 27 yard touchdown. Williams would attempt to make up for lost ground with a 15 yard run, but it wouldn’t be enough to score, ending the first quarter 19-0 Raiders.
Schmitz would start off the quarter with a 6 yard run, followed by a 10 yard run. Junior Devin Sailer would follow these steps and make a 5 yard run. Both sophomore Alex Frederick and Williams would advance the team with runs before the Raiders would call a timeout. The Roughriders would struggle to meet their passes after the timeout and would be forced to punt.
