Roughriders win boys title at Hazen Last Chance meet

The Southern McLean Roughriders turned in a strong all-around performance May 12 at the Hazen Last Chance meet, highlighted by a firstplace finish in the boys team standings.
Southern McLean topped the boys field with 110 points, finishing well ahead of runner-up Standing Rock (75) and Central McLean (71).
On the girls side, the Roughriders placed fourth with 70 points in a competitive field led by Hazen.
The boys squad was powered by multiple individual champions and relay victories. Brady Vollmuth led the way on the track and in the field, winning the 100-meter dash in 11.43 seconds and taking first in the pole vault with a personal-best clearance of 12 feet, 9 inches.
Sophomore Hayden Clausen added two more wins, sweeping the hurdles with a time of 17.55 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 45.22 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.
Southern McLean also dominated the relays, capturing both the 4x400 and 4x800 titles.
The 4x400 team of Keaton Kadrmas, Levi Mc-Gregor, Clausen and Beckett Kadrmas finished in 3:37.13, while the 4x800 group of Kadrmas, Porter Snyder, Easton Kugler and Beckett Kadrmas won in 8:41.36.
Daniel Neumiller added a second-place finish in the 800 meters (2:16.35), and William Bergquist cleared 6-2 to place third in the high jump. Bergquist also placed fourth in the triple jump.
