Roughriders’ Hot Start Extinguished by Bulldogs

It was a fun start followed by a tough finish on Friday in Bowman for the Southern McLean Roughriders. The Riders were unable to keep the pace they set and ended up dropping their first region game of the year, 48-12. It's easy to say that the opening minutes of Fridayʻs tilt were an eye-opener for fans of both sides, starting with the kickoff. Kirklan Meschke sent the ball deep to Southern McLeanʻs John Marshall. Marshall took the kick from the Bowman 17-yard line, down the Roughrider sideline, through some good blocks from his teammates and into the endzone for a touchdown. Alex Retterath ran in the twopoint conversion, but a penalty made Southern McLean try
again. The pass fell incomplete this time, but the excitement was not taken away. The special teams success carried over into the first defensive possession of the game.
