Seventh place at state

By Adam Thomas, BHG News Service

This season’s Lady Cardinals team went 16-3 in the regular season, handily captured the District 10 Tournament title, and outplayed a talented array of teams to come out as the champions of Region 5. In so doing, they earned Washburn’s first state tournament appearance in seven years and secured their place alongside a long line of history’s greatest Washburn Girls Basketball teams. Further extending a tradition that has dominated the class B landscape with a record 13 appearances in the state tournament since the program’s first in 1983. The girls brought back the seventh place trophy from the state tournament held at the Bismarck Civic Center this past weekend. With that final piece of hardware, they closed out an impressive season that will stand out as one to remember as their accomplishments are added to the ever-growing legacy of Washburn Girls Basketball.
