The Region 5 Volleyball tournament was held at the Shiloh gymnasium last week with the top teams from District 9 taking on the top teams from District 10 in the first round on Monday, November 11.

The Wilton-Wing Miners came out of the district tournament in third place which would put them up against the second seeded Shiloh Skyhawks for the Regional opening night.

When they had met during the year, the Skyhawks narrowly escaped with a 3-2 five set win. It was proof positive that either team could come out on top in this regional rematch if they played at the top of their game.

Unfortunately for Wilton-Wing, their performance wasn't the best showing for the year while the Skyhawks shined on their home floor and easily took the match 3-0.

Right from the start it was easy to see that the Miners didn't have their best foot forward. For a team that has made its living in the past two years thanks to a total command of the fundamentals, Wilton-Wing's mistakes and miscues were uncharacteristic and ultimately their downfall.
