Southern McLean boys turn in strong showing at Orriginals Invitational

The Southern McLean cross country team, which consists of Washburn, Wilton and Wing public schools, made their presence felt at the Orriginals Invitational on Aug. 23 held at the Parkhurst Recreation Area.
Facing one of the largest and most competitive fields of the season, the Southerners rose to the challenge and earned a respectable 16th place team finish with 554 points in the boys’ varsity standings.
Junior standout Daniel Neumiller once again paced Southern McLean with an impressive run against nearly 200 competitors.
Neumiller crossed the line in 18 minutes, 32 seconds, securing 39th place overall. His performance put him in the upper fifth of the field and established a strong tone for the team.
Close behind Neumiller was Easton Kugler, who clocked a time of 19:05 to take 57th place. Kugler’s steady pace and late push helped him climb through the crowded field and give Southern McLean another top-60 finisher.
