With the track and field season already half over and plagued with weather-related issues, the team from Southern McLean finally got a chance to attend their first outdoor meet of the year over in Hazen last week.

Despite having a big part of their schedule up to this point scratched because of cancellations, the Southern McLean team took to their first meet in weeks with improved finishes and a trio of top finishes.

"We saw some good things out of our athletes at Hazen," said Southern McLean head coach George Levey. "The field events were a pleasant surprise, with many of our points coming from those events. Our long distance was looking strong, as well."

The team continued to see athletes excel in the high jump, grabbing first place for both the boys’ and girls’ sides of the event. For the boys, it was Grant Tweeten with a six-foot jump and representing the girls was McKenzie Thorson with a leap of 4’11".
