Southern McLean rolls past Hazen
The Southern McLean Roughriders kept their momentum rolling last Thursday night, August 29, when they traveled to Hazen and walked away with a commanding 44-6 victory over the Bison.
The win marks the team’s second straight to open the 2024 campaign, pushing their record to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Region 4 play. From the opening whistle, Southern McLean asserted control.
The Roughriders’ offense executed with efficiency, stringing together scoring drives that left Hazen struggling to keep pace.
Balanced playmaking on the ground and through the air kept the Bison defense guessing, while the Roughrider offensive line consistently opened lanes for runners and gave their quarterback ample time to work.
Defensively, Southern McLean was equally impressive, bottling up Hazen’s rushing attack and forcing turnovers that swung momentum further in the Roughriders’ favor.
By halftime, the outcome was beginning to take shape, and Southern McLean never looked back.
