The boys and girls track team had a great showing at regionals this last weekend in the bowl at Bismarck State College. The Southern McLean Roughriders were hoping to win the regional meet for the first time in their history but fell just short.

"It was a battle all the way through but at the end Carrington just had too much depth in too many events to catch them. We fought hard in the high winds to come away with 2nd place in the boy’s division," head coach George Levey said.

The girls track team finished third behind Hazen and Carrington with 106 points. Senior Kate Fox won two events including the 1600 meter and 3200 meter run. She also was named Region Co-Senior Athlete of the Year with Hazen’s Kaylene Klein. Mckenzie Thorson won the high jump.

Five female athletes will be representing the Roughriders in the state meet this weekend in Bismarck. Kate Fox will compete in the 800m run, 1600m run, 3200m run, and on the 1600m relay. Amanda Odegard will be in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter relay, and the 1600-meter relay.

McKenzie Thorson will compete in the high jump and the 400m relay. Kaitlyn Binstock will compete in the 400m relay and the 1600m relay. Abigail Waloch will compete in the 400m relay and the 1600m relay. In addition, Tara Binstock and Brook Tibke will be traveling with the team to the state meet as relay alternates.
