Spring sports at weather’s whim

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Spring sports have begun and winter has overstayed its welcome causing some events to be canceled in the area. The weather has made any outdoor events tough as tracks, baseball fields, and golf courses are under snow and increasing levels of water. For the Washburn-Wilton-Wing track team, that means "flexibility", according to Washburn track and field coach Shayla Sinclair. On Friday evening, the team lined up on the football field and did sprints through the snow. Some even pulled their coaches in sleds to strengthen their leg muscles. "When life gives you lemons," assistant coach George Levey explained, that you have to learn to make lemonade. Sinclair referred to the snow training as a good form of plyometrics.
