Strong opening weeks for Southern McLean

By Adam Thomas, BHG News Service

It’s been awhile, but the Southern McLean track team finally caught a break this year on the weather front. The team started practicing outside almost immediately and has already attended two meets so far this season, all before the end of March. The first meet up at Minot State was originally scheduled to be an indoor affair inside the Minot State Dome, but it was moved outside on the account of good weather. “We went to a very early Minot meet since the weather was so cooperative with us. It was a class A and B meet, with mostly B teams attending and it was held at Minot High, which has a beautiful, almost brand-new facility,” said Southern McLean coach Shayla Sinclair. The Southern McLean team brought their seniors along with last year’s state qualifiers to the MSU meet and the Roughrider’s select squad brought in good results for the season opener.
