Thompson came into the Class B American Legion state tournament, hosted by Hazen, hoping to three-peat. They made sure to establish a big lead early in the championship against Carrington. After jumping out to a 7-0 lead Thompson wrapped the game up with some big bats,   claiming a 15-5 six-inning win.
Carrington had a great chance to score early in the game. They loaded the bases with one out against Thompson starter Clay Odenbach. Trey Rosenau came up to bat and popped out. Brandon Larson took a swing at it next and was retired ending the top of the first.
Neither team scored in the second but Thompson broke through in the bottom of the third. Marcus Hughes led off the inning with a single and Cadyn Schwabe followed with a walk. Thompson's No. 3-hitter Trey Larimer hit a one-run single, giving Thompson a 1-0 lead.
Carrington's defense and starting pitcher, Drew Page, didn't recover well after giving up the run. Page hit Clay Odenbach with a pitch. Thompson scored on an error during the next at-bat making it 2-0. Page committed a balk pushing Thompson's lead to 3-0.
Jacob Dick followed with a two-run double, lifting Thompson to a 5-0 lead. Thompson wasn't done with their offensive surge. Josh Sem slapped a two-run homer over the fence for a big 7-0 lead.
