W-W track has strong showing at Watford City

Last week’s overly windy conditions calmed just in time for the Washburn-Wilton track team’s trip to a meet out west. It was an all Class B meet at Watford City and the team shined against the unfamiliar competition. "Pretty much every member hit a personal best," said W-W Head Coach Shayla Sinclair. "I think we would have won on the girls side had we been in ‘full force,’ unfortunately we were missing many athletes due to spring activities and injury this time around." In the field events, Monty Johnson once again topped 11’ in the pole vault taking second place. Coach George Levey praised Johnson’s work ethic and said that he expected Johnson to top 11’6" soon. Cori Moberg managed to put up some impressive distances in a pair of events, fourth place on 30’11" in the shot put and 85’7" in Javelin, good for fifth place. Steph Sauter also took fourth in the discus with a throw of 92’1" for the girls.
