Washburn advances to Sectional Quarterfinals with 8-2 win over Belfield
Coming off a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed, Washburn Post 12 Legion Baseball opened its 2025 sectional tournament with a strong showing, defeating the Belfield Post 144 Knights 8-2 July 21.
The victory pushes Washburn into the quarterfinals, where they’ll face Hazen Post 189 on Tuesday for a spot in the semifinal round.
Washburn wasted little time setting the tone, striking early with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
They followed it up with a three-run second, capitalizing on a mix of timely hitting and Belfield defensive miscues.
By the end of the second frame, Washburn held a comfortable 5-0 lead.
