Washburn holds off Beulah in 6-2 Legion baseball win
A strong fourth and fifth inning surge helped Washburn Post 12 push past Beulah Legion in a 6-2 road win July 2, in a competitive seven-inning matchup that saw both teams flash moments of promise on the mound and in the field.
The game began quietly, with both teams held scoreless in the opening frame.
Washburn got on the board first in the top of the second when a combination of patient plate discipline and timely hitting led to a run.
Hudson Wolff, who was a perfect 2-for-2 on the day with two RBIs and a walk, sparked the offense with his first hit of the evening.
Though Beulah managed to prevent a big inning, Washburn established early momentum and never trailed the rest of the way.
Beulah responded in the bottom of the third with their biggest offensive push of the game. Jack Skalsky delivered in a big way for the home team, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
His base hit in the inning drove in both of Beulah’s runs, temporarily swinging momentum in the home team’s favor as they took a 2-1 lead.
