Washburn Post 12 goes 3-1 during busy weekend stretch
Washburn Post 12 put together an impressive weekend of American Legion baseball, winning three of four games while showcasing an explosive offense that produced 46 runs across four contests.
The weekend began Friday with a dominant 17-5 victory over the Bismarck Senators in a game shortened to five innings.
After a scoreless opening frame, Washburn’s offense came alive with four runs in the second inning and five more in the third. Post 12 continued to add on with two runs in the fourth and six in the fifth to pull away.
Hunter Wolf led the offensive attack, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two walks. Ethan Retterath added two hits and an RBI, while Logan Hansen reached base four times with two hits and two walks.
Oscar Wood and Chase Becher each drove in two runs, while River Kjelstrup, Colten Becher and Liam Solomonson also contributed RBIs.
Retterath was outstanding on the mound, striking out nine batters in 4 1/3 innings while allowing just one hit.
