Washburn splits busy week, eyes key District battles ahead

The Washburn Cardinals volleyball team endured a demanding stretch of matches last week, facing three opponents over the span of six days.
Though the results were mixed, the team showed determination and signs of progress as they continue to navigate a competitive Region 4, District 8 schedule.
On Tuesday, September 16, Washburn traveled to Flasher for a difficult district contest.
The Bulldogs, who currently sit atop the standings with a perfect 3-0 district record and 15-2-1 overall, proved why they are considered one of the toughest teams in the region. Washburn struggled to slow Flasher’s balanced attack and fell in straight sets, 0–3.
The Cardinals bounced back on Thursday, September 18, when they returned home to face White Shield.
In front of their home crowd, Washburn delivered one of their strongest performances of the season.
Behind improved communication and steady play at the net, the Cardinals captured a 3–1 victory. The win provided a confidence boost and marked just their second triumph of the season, showing glimpses of what the group is capable of when clicking together.
