WCS split outcomes in busy stretch
The Washburn/Center-Stanton Cardinals softball team endured a challenging road matchup before rebounding in dominant fashion, highlighting both the growing pains and potential within the lineup early in the 2026 season.
The Cardinals opened the stretch April 16, traveling to face Wilton-Wing, where a high-powered offensive performance from the Miners led to a 17-6 loss.
Washburn/Center-Stanton found early success at the plate, scoring four runs in the second inning to take an early lead.
The Cardinals added single runs in the third and fourth innings, maintaining offensive pressure and finishing with eight hits in the contest.
Breanna Laning led the way offensively, going 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a walk, providing a key spark in the middle of the lineup.
Brooklyn Hetletved also contributed an RBI, while Kylee Fiedler delivered a strong performance, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk.
Elizabeth Neumiller and Kayla Hammons each added hits, with Hammons also drawing a walk.
