Wilton fields to get new scoreboard

The Wilton softball and football fields are set to have a brand new scoreboard come spring, thanks to a sponsorship that will fully fund the feature.
Athletic director Vicky Bender told the Wilton Public School board during its Nov. 20 meeting that local representatives had been exploring the idea of obtaining a new scoreboard at the football and softball fields on Minnie Avenue.
Bender said that the current football field scoreboard is outdated, making it impossible to update or fix the board. She said Nicole and Jamie Schurhamer had been working with Daktronics on a new scoreboard that would serve a dual purpose.
“We could manually replace parts of the board to make it work for football versus baseball, and turn into softball scoreboard,” Bender said, noting that the Roughrider and Miner logos could be swapped seasonally, as appropriate.
