Wilton-Wing Lady Miners lose two

By Adam Thomas, BHG News Service

If there was a bright side to the losses for this year’s Wilton-Wing girls basketball team, it would be that most of them have been close games where a couple of shots and a defensive stand or two could have changed the entire outcome. But as the Miners look for that catalyst that will begin to tip the scales in their favor more reliably before the end of the year, the Turtle Lake Mercer-McClusky Trojans and the Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal Rebels came along and added two more close losses; 45-34 and 66-62. In their last regular season district game of the year, the Miners hosted the TLMM Trojans. The last time these two teams met, it was a low scoring affair that ended with Wilton-Wing being crowned the McLean County Champions. This rematch was again low scoring, but the outcome was reversed. Being outscored 14-4, the Miners had trouble finding their shot in the first quarter. The inside game was almost completely off limits to Wilton-Wing as TLMM’s Chloe Bayless locked down anything and everything that entered the paint.
