Carson writes book of poetry
I began writing poetry in the fall of 2019, shortly after starting my freshman year of college at Miles Community College in Miles City, MT. Earlier that spring, I was able
to watch Sims, ND cowboy poet, Rodney Nelson perform, which started an interest in writing myself. Through the winter and spring of 2019-2020 I began to write more frequently
and engaged myself in studying the tradition of cowboy poetry. I began committing myself to reading and writing intensely during the Covid-19 shutdown, where I had more time and solitude to advance my work. Since then, my confidence and quality in my work and performance has increased dramatically. My first book, Branding in the Rain: A Collection of Ranching & Rodeo Poetry came out in the fall of 2021, to great reviews and response.
