City weighs mold remediation options, relocates auditor’s office
Editor’s note: The special meeting was held Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. to address mold concerns and the relocation of the auditor’s office. The meeting agenda included no other action items. Although livestreaming of the meetings can usually be found on the city’s YouTube channel, the special meeting was done on Facebook LIVE as the recording and microphone equipment had not yet been moved to the new location.
The McClusky City Council met in special session Aug. 19 to address ongoing mold concerns at city hall and discuss the temporary relocation of the city auditor’s office.
The meeting focused on remediation options, insurance claims and plans for conducting city business while the building remains closed to the public. The agenda identified the purpose of the meeting as addressing mold issues and the auditor’s office move.
Councilmember Lee Wahl said the city's operations were moved from city hall to the post office building because of the mold situation affecting the facility.
Council member Debrah Rhoads confirmed the city is covering the costs associated with the move. Auditor Amanda Saueressig told council members the temporary office arrangement is expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future.
