Clinicals last step to April FNP degree

By ALLAN TINKER
Kylie Buchholz is close to completing her clinicals, the last step before she receives her Family Nurse Practitioner’s degree in April from the University of Mary. Kylie completed half of her primary for the start of the clinicals. Then she moved through clinicals in cardiology, dermatology, women’s health, pediatrics and hours in emergency room care. The
last step is 200 final hours in primary (family) care. She is currently working at the McClusky Northland Health Center Clinic. From as long as she could read, she wanted to be a
nurse. After years of watching Discovery Channel, in eighth grade she decided she wanted to be an FNP. She graduated from Century High School in Bismarck in 2013, University of Mary with a BSN in 2017, and will complete her FNP degree this year. Along the way, Kylie has been well rounded in her studies, studying and dancing ballet until she was 18
at Let’s Dance Studio in Bismarck. “I loved ballet. I was a competitive dancer and competed in the Nationals, winning first place in two solo dances. I perform lyrical dances, which tell a story through dance.”
