Counseling services offered locally

By ALLAN TINKER

Northland Community Health Center is offering professional counseling two days a week in McClusky Clinic and one day each week in Turtle Lake Clinic. Talesa Heger, MS, LPCC, is the new mental health care provider and licensed counselor serving the position.

Heger, the daughter of Duane and the late Gloria Helm, graduated from Turtle Lake-Mercer High School in 1993 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in speech, language and hearing at Moorhead State University. She followed that education with a Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance at Texas A and M, including attending Mississippi State University for the required classes for certification. She has one brother, Daniel, who lives in Minot.

Heger credits her high school education in science and social studies for her continuing interest in providing clients with an understanding of the lifestyles she shares with them in their rural communities. As a football cheerleader and dancing with the Trojanettes and playing clarinet in band, she enjoyed the best of the communities in which they performed.
