Donors fill need through Lions service project

Donors fill need through Lions service project

By ALLAN TINKER
United Blood Services called out for blood donors recently, in particular for O-positive blood, the most common blood type.
Lions Blood Drive Chairman Dave Martwick responded with filling the schedule with as many donors as he could find. The results were outstanding. 26 people were interviewed and there were only two deferrals.
Of the 24 donors, there were five new people added to the list of willing donors for the community of McClusky.
There were 21 whole blood collections, three “doubles;” this made a total of 27 units collected.
Adding incentive to the drive this time, were the $5 McClusky Merchant gift certificates that the Merchant’s Association made available upon request from the Lions to do so. While most donors willingly give their blood to help those who need it, this appreciation gesture added a smile to many faces, along with the juice and cookies given out after the blood is drawn.
