Elevator repair continues on schedule

Elevator repair continues on schedule

By ALLAN TINKER
With the eyes of the community watching, the repair to the heavily fire-damaged Co-op Elevator is keeping on schedule. Manager Brian Larson stated that the last time he spoke with Northern Grain Construction and Design out of Clara City, MN, they were still on schedule with usable premises on March 30, 2011 and completed by the next month on April 30.
The total cost, which seems to never quite be accurate no matter how careful the planning, is a “ballpark” $1.5 million. “The costs usually exceed the estimate,” said Larson.
Important to the elevator is to be ready for customers to have their seed cleaned in time for planting. So far, this time-critical date is still possible.
Larson stated they look forward to a normal routine again with the full length scale usable. The short scale has been weighing partial loads at a time, with the monitor for that scale burning out twice, a week delay each time.
