BHG newspapers captured 206 awards in the recent North Dakota Newspaper Association contest awards. The company’s 11 community weekly newspapers took home 82 news and editorial awards, 78 advertising awards and 40 photography awards.
The highest honors went to the Hazen Star, which received a first place honor for general excellence and in the sweepstakes division for newspapers in the 1,001 – 1,999 circulation category. The Mountrail County Record claimed equally top honors with a first place in the 1 – 1,000 circulation category. In the same circulation category, the Velva Area Voice took third place and Center Republican won honorable mention. “We’re proud of The McClusky Gazette. We strive to provide all the news and sports in our communities, but we couldn’t do it without our readers and advertisers. The real accolades go to the people who help us make it their newspaper each week.” said Mike Gackle, BHG president.
