Gift, surprises and brunch for Red Hats

With Chef Allen (Todd) Hicks at the stove, a dry run of the future menu, a birthday surprise, and a room full of red-hatted women started Monday off with a good mood. There were 22 members and a few husbands at the brunch, a no-charge event. Add a birthday cake surprise for Bev Zingg, along with a bear carving to add to the welcome at their farm driveway to make the day complete. Bear Country Gifts is open, and the deli would have been open earlier in the year, but COVID restrictions have delayed the grand opening until August 1. The date is set but will be flexible if need be. Instead, the Red Hats group, quiet and waiting for fun since last fall, were treated to fresh biscuits and gravy, muffins, breakfast meat and Red Velvet cake for Zingg, who was celebrating her 82nd birthday.
