Girls Scouts honor moms in community

Girls Scouts honor moms in community

Submitted by Diane Holen
The McClusky Junior Girl Scouts recently spent an afternoon at the Sheridan Memorial Home transplanting flowers. Under the direction of Junior Girl Scout Leader, Diane Holen and Sheridan Memorial Home Activity Director, Delores Helm, 14 residents and seven Girl Scouts planted almost 200 petunias into individual cups.
The flowers were donated by The Union Grill and were given to the “mom” customers on Mother’s Day. The business also donated petunias for the Memorial Homes’ outside planters so the residents could enjoy them this summer.
Some ladies shared past stories about their flower gardens and the men reminisced about farming. It was a fun-filled afternoon with the girls earning a community service badge.
Participating McClusky Girl Scouts and leader were Alex Naser, Diane Holen, Trista Crimmins, Jewel Faul, Lexi Groskruetz, Arika Werth, and Shayna Crimmins. Chasely Houser was also there but had to leave before the accompanying picture was taken.
