Goodrich American Legion celebrates 95-year birthday

 

Albert Block Post 56 of the Goodrich American Legion and Auxiliary celebrated its 95th birthday with a program on Tuesday evening, March 18, at the Goodrich School gym.

Goodrich American Legion-naires advanced and retired the Colors.

Goodrich students from Grades 1-3 sang "National Anthem" with accompanist LaDonna Erdmann.

The audience recited "Pledge to the Flag" and Goodrich Amer-ican Legion Chaplain Gordon Felchle gave the invocation and benediction.

Goodrich American Legion Com-mander Merwyn Krein welcomed guests.

Goodrich students from grades four and up sang "God Bless the USA." Daisy Tripp performed two violin solos: "Yankee Doodle" and "America the Beautiful."

Karen Feickert, Goodrich Am-erican Legion Auxiliary president, gave a reading as follows:

"As the American Legion celebrates its 95th birthday across America, I thought it would be a perfect time to talk a little bit about the who, what, and where of the American Legion.

"The American Legion has always been about principles not politics. That is why they are the most respected and successful veterans service organization in the country.
