Helping Farm Life be safer

Helping Farm Life be safer

Sheridan County Farmers Union and Sheridan County 4-H sponsored a Farm Safety Day on Friday, June 25, at the 4-H building at Hoffer Lake. Approximately 25 kids attended
to learn safety at the farm. The kids were in groups. One group, the kids, 12-15 year olds, put helmets on for ATV safety. Tony Hillig from State Parks and Recreation was there to give the ATV certified course. The kids were to take the lesson to ride the ATVs, but the rain came and they did not get to ride. The other group, with Amanda Olson and camp staff, taught the kids STEM robotics. The kids use the computer to make the robotic move. Amanda Olson told the kids the North Dakota Farmers Union camp is open all summer for grades three to twelve at James River Camp and Heart Butte Camp. Go to ndfu. org for more information. The next group, with Todd Rath, Otter Tail Power service representative of McClusky, presented safety around the wire at home, with the danger of down wire during the storm.
