Local area participants sweep NDFMGA contests

At the conference of the North Dakota Farmers Market Growers Association (NDFMGA) and Local Foods, a contest was offered for the best Farmers Market display and the best vendor display. Roberta Hunt, NDFMGA Board of Directors Northwest Representative, won for her display of the McClusky Farmers Markets over the past several years. Her display included vegetables out of her cellar storage and substitute accents of other vegetables that were also produced locally. The table full of garden produce also contained newspaper reports of the markets. She also displayed the garlic that her husband Roger raises and sells locally and regionally.

Hunt won a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablet computer. The Tab 4 has front and rear facing cameras, built-in GPS, and many other high performance features.

Stephanie Blumhagen, a Drake High School graduate, and is currently employed at Dakota College in Bottineau in the promotion of local foods area. She won a Nikon COOLPIX L830 and telephoto lens. Her vendor display was centered on an overflowing basket of breads and flours alongside.

This department, under the instruction and guidance of Keith Knudson, offers management programs for those who grow specialty crops, such as vegetables.
