Trevor Haux scored 20.5 to earn 856th place in 1,717 in the high school Clay Target competition recently. National competition rules in the Clay Target leagues in USA high schools, require a twenty-one out of twenty-five average of the 10 scores for the year in the competitor’s high school league to qualify to go to nationals. They accept 1,400 kids to enroll in the first three days, according to Trevor Haux’s dad Steven. Trevor qualified on the fourth day with an average of 20.5. The competitors shoot at one hundred clay birds in each round. In two rounds of fifty, Trevor shot 46/50 and 43/50 for a total of 89/50 to place 856/1,717 (out of 30,000 high school kids enrolled in the program across the nation). Trevor used his late grandfather James Haux’s 1959 Remington 1100 semiautomatic that he inherited.
