Lodge blends new ideas with quality of old

Lodge blends new ideas with quality of old

Empty for a long time, long enough to dim hope in this small town, the small downtown bar, formerly “The Double Vision Bar,” is open again. Tim Frantz has opened the establishment as the “Lodge Bar” with limited hours, in the hope that it will provide a place for people to relax and socialize.
Frantz formerly operated the Coteau Lodge east of Goodrich for several years. As a single parent, with two grown sons who live in Bismarck, he is able to set his own work schedule and commitments. His bar will be another employment, along with his continuing carpentry work. Like his customers, rural areas develop the talents he needs to get the job done and he is not reluctant to try and learn something new.
With am eye to reducing expenses and liability, the bar is smoke-free. The requests he received from residents who heard he was considering opening the business decided the issue for him firmly. With other states and areas around him opting for smoke-free, it was an easy thing to see what the future had in store and to avoid having to remodel in the future.
Along with the smoke-free atmosphere expense reduction, the savings for employee health as well as his own is another plus. He noted that his former Coteau Lodge customers were already used to the non-smoking venue in the areas from which they came.
