Sunday, June 23, the annual McClusky Sheridan County 4-H Council barrel race was held at the 4-H Arena at Hoffer Lake. The event had been rescheduled from June 9.  The event was a “double header”, which means two different races held in the same day.
The different divisions included: Peewee, Open, and Youth. Local participants in the event included Shayna Crimmins and Alex Naser in the Youth and Sarah Crimmins in the Open division.
What a day of extremes at the Barrel race, with an inch of rain Saturday night. Arena conditions were wet, but dried out as the day went on! There were barrelracers from South Dakota to the Canadian Border. Sprinkles and wind to bright warm sunshine; mud to nice dry sand, all in a span of the afternoon!
The event ran over 110 runs and paid out over $3,200. Many contestants came from NBHA ND District 4; Minot, Bottineau, and Denhoff areas, along with the first race being co-sanctioned with NBHA ND District 3 with contestants coming from the Bismarck area.
