McClusky Memorial Day Remembrance

Contributed by Deb Sparrow

The local American Legion and the Auxiliary are proud to carry on the tradition of Memorial Day observance in the community. A program honoring veterans is scheduled for 10 a.m., May 30, at the McClusky School gymnasium. The speaker is Brock Kletteke of McClusky.

Several musical numbers will be presented, along with readings from Girls’ State candidate, Skylar Simes and the Citizenship awardee, Kassidee Logsdon. Weather permitting, a cemetery ceremony with a color guard, decoration of the crosses, and "Taps" played by Kody Faul will follow the program at the gymnasium. The Auxiliary will serve a free will offering lunch at the McClusky Community Center following the cemetery service.

In days prior to Memorial Day, the Auxiliary members will be out in the community selling poppies. Cans for donations have also been placed in businesses in the community. All proceeds from the poppies and the lunch will be used to support veteran projects in the state.
